Haarlem sits at the edge of the dunes and the polders. NoBreakfast Haarlem makes use of both โ fast coastal roads, quiet polder paths, and the kind of morning silence you only find before 7 AM. It's one of the most beautiful locations in the Netherlands to ride early, and the NoBreakfast community does exactly that, every weekday.

Haarlem as home base
Haarlem has everything an early morning ride needs: little traffic, varied terrain, and a short distance to both coast and polder. The Kennemerduinen are practically on the doorstep, the North Holland polder is ready for high averages, and the coastline from Zandvoort to Noordwijk offers clean roads with wind at your back โ or against it.
For NoBreakfast riders, Haarlem is more than a starting point. It's an environment that invites riding: wide, open, and demanding.
The routes
A popular route heads toward the coast via the Kennemerduinen, past the Kennemer Golf Club and through Nationaal Park Kennemerland. In the early morning, the roads are empty and the landscape is at its best. Another direction leads to the polders south of Haarlem โ flat, open, and perfect for high-pace riding.
Routes along Zandvoort and Noordwijk are also regularly ridden, combining dune passages with long coastal stretches. Wind is a constant factor along the coast โ learn to live with it, or learn to use it in the peloton.
The level
NoBreakfast Haarlem rides at high pace. Average 35โ40 km/h, with peaks toward 45+ km/h on flat sections. This is not a recreational cycling tour. You need to be able to hold a wheel, take your turn in the peloton, and read the group. Riders who have mastered the basics of group cycling will find a ride that genuinely challenges that level.
